See Bill’s latest Forbes article, “Unleashing The Power Of AI To Manage Live Systems.” Written by CEO William Bain, a member of the Forbes Technology Council, the article explains why the convergence of AI and real-time analytics with digital twins offers a genuine breakthrough in managing live systems.
Today’s AI models typically rely on slowly changing data sources, like databases, for retrieval augmented generation (RAG). As a result, they can only analyze a system’s recent past rather than its dynamic state. Without live operational data, AI remains retrospective, reacting to past issues but unable to detect emerging ones.
Connecting AI to streaming pipelines does not solve the problem because this approach does not provide important context about the system’s structure. The AI model’s underlying data layer must provide both live telemetry and context about each asset, such as its role within the system.
An in-memory digital twin can provide the data layer that AI needs. Its virtual, continuously updated software representation of a live system gives AI fast, scalable access to the system’s changing state using a structured model of its organization. It enables AI RAG to access live data within a context that is essential for unlocking deep introspection.
Across industries, integrating AI with in-memory digital twins offers fundamentally new capabilities for managing live systems. How far those capabilities will extend is still being discovered.
